One Planet (Astro AEC Merdeka Special 2025)

One Planet is a Malaysian produced reality TV show that discuss environmental issue in a fun yet insightful way.

In this 8 episodic series, each episode takes you on a exciting journey to explore Malaysia's sustainability efforts and challenges!

The topics covering from environmental protection, social responsibility to corporate management and public health.

The show was aired during 31s August 2025 for 8 consecutive weeks on Astro AEC as their 2025 National Day Special.

The Brief

In this series, our scope of work includes the show's opening & closing animation, along with it's graphic title animation.

The show's producer, Story Art Studio, had the idea to have a playful Opening animation to establish the show's mood and tone.

The Closing animation will have a calmer pacing as it serves as a reflective moment of both the host and viewers.

Below is the concept art visual which we reference heavily on our approach on designing the opening animation.

Opening

For the show's opening, we explore the relationship between the scale of human and nature, blending collage art style with stop motion.

In each episode, the hosts explores Malaysia's nature and interacts with various people giving their best effort in the country's sustainable future.

This inspires us to have the hosts interacting with nature as their little garden project: Sowing seeds over Kuala Lumpur's skyline, watering the paddy field with a garden watering can, Bonsai branches out of industrial chimney and water bottle is repurposed into a coral recycled art piece.

Closing Credits

The Closing Credits have to fit into the final segment where the host reflects on our role on nature and our responsibility in protecting Earth.

Thus, we have a simple design: abstract shape cut out from an image of nature's element.

In each episode, image stills are extracted from key moments to have a quick recap of the entire episode's content.

Graphic Title Templates

As the series span over 8 episodes, maintaining a consistent identity is important for the show.

We set up a motion graphic template (Mogrt) in Premiere pro for the show's Title & Supers graphic animation.

The responsiveness of the template allows editor to fit content of various length into the animation without breaking it, streamlining the whole editing process and reduces back & forth between us and the editors.
